Hello and welcome to another episode of the Mark Groves podcast. You know, I think this is one of the most important episodes I've done at a long time to be able to talk about the temperature or I don't know what the right word is, but the environment in the conversation about cosmetic surgery and fillers and Botox. It's a subject that we just can't ignore, right? Like,

0:22.7

it's so in our face, and I guess that's kind of a pun. I don't even mean it. I didn't even intend it.

0:28.9

There's just a lot, I think, on some level to be concerned about. And not with judgment,

0:35.2

not with shame, not with any of that stuff, but to actually have a conversation with an expert on what is the actual impact of these things.

0:46.1

And are there times when we should not get them?

0:49.5

And I'm really fascinated by the societal and cultural influence or motivations or the ways that our

1:00.3

culture is shaping, gosh, so many puns, the expectations, especially for women of how they

belong. And there's all the reasons we want to feel beautiful. Maybe there's different judgments or

1:22.6

experiences or wounds we have from our childhood. There's a lot of reasons. And you know, I considered years

1:28.4

ago about getting hair replacement, I mean years and years ago. I used to take a drug in my early

1:33.7

20s that was for hair loss, which I stopped taking when I realized I was trading it. You know,

1:39.5

the idea of keeping my hair versus impacting myself biologically was really important to me to

1:46.0

recognize the truth of that was I willing to risk that for vanity and again this is not judgment

1:52.3

this is my own personal choice I was like no you know every once in a while I get a message from

1:58.3

like a Turkish hair transplant place and I'm like,

2:01.0

ah, not today, buddy. But I do appreciate that you notice that I have what I like to call

2:07.6

beautiful cul de cacts up in my hair line. So, you know, I really wanted to explore this conversation

2:14.9

with an expert and there is, I mean, he's world renowned in the

2:19.5

space of plastic surgery and all that kind of stuff. And he happened to be living just down
