What have you been doing, Kylie? Well, I've been working on a portrait series, but that's neither here nor there. I thought in terms of what to bring to the table today, I've been taking this new, well, it's new to me. It's an old road. It's actually called Oldfield Road. It connects to suburban towns, Southbury and Woodbury. And I've been on it a lot lately, and I found

myself thinking about the ranch style as a result, because this road is one of those, you know,

in the first appeal, dating back to when suburban towns were being developed, it's sort of like

they're rural, they had a sort of rural appeal. They're not quite rural, but they're not city

settings either. So this road kind of represents that to me. It's got kind of a rural feel,

but it's also just a suburban

town road. So it's dotted with ranch-style houses, and I was looking at, I've been looking at

them, and was thinking, and I actually took, I stopped the other day and ran around, took a bunch of

pictures of three of them, and it struck me that having grown up in a variety of settings in Massachusetts,

some suburban, some rural, some urban,

somewhere along the line, it was instilled in me that the ranch style was something to be degraded.
