This is hour one of episode 439.

Jason Lingerin is with me and Matt Powers joins us for the first time. We're going to be talking about things that matter in the near future. I would estimate of living in this realm.

Matt calls it regenerative soil. I first heard it introduced as permaculture, but as we get in I think you'll get the point and I'll make a point that's critical and this is my first hand observation. I'm not guessing here.

I see this.

All this warm season, I went down to the beach.

There are no crabs to speak of, spider crabs maybe. There are no starfish. There were very few minnows and

then the minnows started to come. There was all this transient green hairy seaweed and it was drowning the minnows. The minnows could actually

get tangled up in it and drown. I watched it happen for the first time and I began to realize

that I live in a farming community and what was going on. And I

began to realize that I live in a farming community and what was going on I estimated was there was too much

nitrogen in the water from all the runoff from improper farming.

It had polluted the water. Well, lo and behold, two weeks ago, we had a major

fish die off in one of the inlets and they cited, wait for it, lack of oxygen.

That's a nitrogen problem.

That comes from improper farming, from improper growing,

and from people who can't get it through their thick skulls
