0:20.6	We continue on with chapter 15, starting in verse 1 today.
0:24.7	Then some Pharisees and teachers of the law came to Jesus from Jerusalem and asked,
0:29.7	Why do your disciples break the tradition of the elders?
0:32.7	They don't wash their hands before they eat.
0:35.4	Jesus replied, and why do you break the command of God for the sake of your
0:38.9	tradition? For God said, honor your father and mother, and anyone who curses their father and mother
0:44.3	is to be put to death. But you say that if anyone declares that what might have been used to help
0:49.3	their father and mother is devoted to God, they are not to honor their father or mother with it.
0:55.2	Thus, you nullify the word of God for the sake of your tradition.
0:59.3	You hypocrites, Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you.
1:03.5	These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.
1:07.1	They worship me in vain.
1:09.1	Their teachings are mere human rules. I'm going to stop there. This is
1:12.8	halfway through this particular story. The Pharisees have come to Jesus and they have basically said,
1:18.9	your disciples are breaking the rules. Your disciples are doing something wrong. And this isn't the
1:25.9	first time. Remember, there was the whole thing about their threshing by eating the grain of the fields on the Sabbath.
1:32.4	But they come this time and say, you're not washing your hands.
