Last week on the Bowery Boys.

Magnificent thunder and lightning storm just rolled in and all of a sudden like all of the paint

and all the buildings just sort of shimmered and it just felt like we were in like a kind of magic town.

So we turn to the North Sea, Greg, turn to the North Sea around, keep turning.

Look, be out at the municipality known as Waterland.

Which is true. It is Waterland.

Yeah, Markin's part of Waterland.

And what is this body of water?

The next morning, back in Amsterdam Amsterdam we found ourselves in the neighborhood of Newmarket and near Waterloo Square site of the oldest flea market in the Netherlands. We were also near the site of

Amsterdam's old Jewish quarter called Yodenbert. We were on a food related mission

and one very close to our hearts.

Greg, we are on day four of our Amsterdam adventure.

This epic trip, I mean mean the past three episodes we have gone back 400 years and even you know more in some cases to trace the history of New Amsterdam within the city of

Amsterdam and Leiden of course and we are currently sitting at a charming

sandwich restaurant called Broodbar bread bar bread

Greg's Dutch is improving with delicious sandwiches in front of us.

These are toasties they have been, they're really into toasties here.

Love it. I love a good toastie. But we're about to kind of change direction here in fact and

look at another facet of this connection between New York and the Netherlands

in this case a more food related connection. That's right we're about to head around the

corner and talk about New York and the history of Pickles.

Of course that will take us to Lower East Side history from the late 19th century, early 20th century.
