Butts and cuts and, and poops and... Hey friends I'm Jillian and welcome back to the Hamelcast. You're listening to my second episode with Nick Sanchez,

who's been a swing on the Philip tour

for almost six years now.

Last week, we talked a lot about Nick's experience

with Rent, which started when he first audition for it

at 15 years old.

He obviously didn't book it right away. But that first audition, which he went to pretty much on a whim, led to the series of auditions and callbacks that would eventually get him cast in his dream show at 22. Nick loved Rent so much that when he showed up for work cast members actually

recognized him from the audience. They were like hey you're that kid from the second

row oh my god what are you doing here and he's like yeah and now I'm in it and it's a dream

and I'm making my Broadway debut. Now that that whole experience would be life-changing for anyone,

but it meant so much to Nick, because in college,

he was told by people who call themselves educators,

which is wild, what he can and cannot do.

He won't get singer rolls, he'll never be cast as a leading man

whatever not only is that completely untrue and out of bounds but it can be

extremely damaging to an 18 year old artist and human for that matter who's just

trying to figure it all out.

I'm sorry it just pisses me off so much but you know what forget them

let's focus on Nick and his journey because that is way more fun and
