The fine folks at Fire are doing something very cool called Free Speech Future, a series of live discussions in New York

on the big questions facing technology and free expression.

I spoke at the third of these events, which is our episode today.

This one was called Cy of censorship, emerging technologies.

Down the centuries, it seems that every groundbreaking new communications technology

sparks a wave of fear and panic.

We use that history as a lens for looking at today's debates over social media and AI.

From there, things went in a bunch of interesting directions.

We covered a lot of ground while keeping things light.
