so the center of this verse revolves around one word obey

that's the way it's translated here translation but the whole picture in the word is listening and obeying.

So it's kind of like remember back in Deuteronomy chapter six, here, oh Israel, and Obey. That's the whole picture here in

Jeremiah Chapter 7. Listen to, hear the word of God and obey it. That's what he's

calling his people to do. In fact here in

Jeremiah chapter 7 we see how the people were offering sacrifices like they

were participating in religion. What they weren't doing was listening to and

obeying the word of God listening to and doing doing and

doing what God had said.

And he says,

this is the command I give you, obey my voice,

I hear my voice and do it, I will so hear the promise I will be your God you

shall be my people walk in the way that I command you and it will be well with you. This is a promise direct from God to his

people then and to you and me right now that if we will listen to his voice and

obey his voice, walk in the ways that he commands, that it will

go well with us, not obviously meaning that everything will be perfect for us, but that

we will experience life to the full, the good life.

Now not the good life define the way the world defines the good life, but the good life the way our Creator

God who gave us life defines a good life, which is far better than anything this world
