You may have heard a speech from Ed Mylett (AKA the greatest speaker of today) sometime before this episode, but maybe not like this. For those who don’t know, Ed Mylett is a renowned speaker, entrepreneur, real estate investor, author, and podcaster. He has started businesses worth millions and continues to teach entrepreneurs through his personal brand. What many people don’t know is how much Ed loves real estate. That’s right, you heard it first on BiggerPockets! It’s not the speaking, writing, and podcasting, it’s owning cash flowing properties. As a matter of fact, he just closed on one recently with his son and did an astonishing $100 million in real estate deals in 2020. Ed emphasizes the importance of faith, generosity, and most importantly, setting your life at a high standard. These seem to be the key thought processes that many other successful entrepreneurs have, and again proves Ed’s point on their importance. It’s not easy being in real estate, especially when the deals get big (we’re talking $25M+ deals). Ed cautions young investors to not bite off more than they can chew, or as he puts it “don’t take a loss where you can’t fight again”. In a world full of mega-leveraged investment opportunities, this might be the advice new investors need to feel confident going forward.
