The Bible Study Podcast, episode 432. Today, the Bible Study podcast continues the study of Matthew

with the second part of Chapter 12. Welcome to the Bible Study podcast. I'm your host, Chris Christensen.

We're continuing on with

chapter 12 of Matthew today, starting in verse 15. And verse 15 starts this way, aware of this.

And that's always a good place to pause and say, what is this that we're talking about? And remember

that last week, we talked about Jesus having trouble with the Pharisees about the Sabbath.

Two different issues came up.

One was his disciples were threshing grain.

Well, they were really walking through a field and pulling off some of the heads of grain in their hands and thrashing it with their hands.

And that was considered breaking the Sabbath.

And then Jesus is challenged in the synagogue with a man with a withered hand

who has brought to him and said, is it right to heal on the Sabbath? And Jesus says it is, he heals the man,

and at that point, we are told, the Pharisees went out and plotted how they might kill Jesus.

And that's the this in this statement. Aware of this, Jesus withdrew from that place.

A large crowd followed him, and he healed all who were ill.

He warned them not to tell others about him.

This was to fulfill what had been spoken through the prophet Isaiah.

Here is my servant whom I have chosen, the one I love and whom I delight.

I will put my spirit on him,

and he will proclaim justice to the nations. He will not quarrel or cry out. No one will hear his

voice in the streets. A bruised reed he will not break, and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out,

till he has brought justice through to victory. In his name, the nations will put their hope.
