And today, we are talking Hollis Frampton.

First of all, the ideal conditions for watching experimental films.

You got a small, maybe ad hoc theater, you had 50 seats or under. Maybe there were 10 other audience members, maybe

fewer. Maybe some of those seats are like lawn chairs or office chairs, you know, all kind of,

you know, somebody got them out of their garage. And all you're hearing is, you know,

the whirring sound of the 16 millimeter projector and the coughing of at least one or two other

people. Someone will get up, like five minutes in, leave or not come back. Yeah, and that person has a sort of crinkly shopping bag. And they're opening candies as it's playing. And they're here because it was free. Yes. They saw something on a bulletin board that said it was a free movie. And you're locked in, okay, with the movie. You're locked in. So that's not what we had this week. We were watching at home, which is too bad, but I think we still had a good time. So some of these shorts that I watched, I'm like, I've seen these. Of course. These are textbook experimental film. You've seen nostalgia, right? No, I had never seen nostalgia. I had seen Zorn's lemma before. Did I see it with you? Did it get

shown at what a Stephen Broomer screening? You know, you're thinking of there's another movie like that.

Yeah. That's just a lot of random footage. No, it's a letter specifically that I remember. Oh, really? Okay.

We didn't see it together. But I just want to make clear that this is like the textbook experimental film 101. You're going to be shown these films. Now, this came to mind, Will, where you're just like, we need to challenge ourselves. Well, yeah, because we did Howie Mandel last week. And I thought, how about equal and opposite in the other direction? That makes sense.

And also, I've had the Hollis Frampton Odyssey Criterion Blu-ray set sitting on my shelf, you know, waiting for me to have an excuse to dive in for a long time. The good thing about Hollis Frampton is if you want to get into his work, that is a definitive collection of his work. It's great. It's a life in a box.
