This is Sound Opinions and Greg you and I are both huge fans of Sly and the Family Stone.

You were lucky enough a couple of years ago 2008 to talk to the man.

What kind of shape was he in then?

Well at the time Jim he was trying to mount a comeback and it sounded like you know he was going

to have Cynthia Robinson Jerry Martini in the band the Sly Stone group was getting

back together Sly seemed on top of his game he seemed energized he seemed desirous

of coming back because his music had been sampled so much,

and then cancelled a bunch of shows and back into hiding.

It's a sad story, Greg, but we're going to remember the man and the band when they were both

on top.
