This is episode number 430 and our guest today is Gabriel from Ivory Holsters.

Gabriel sent me an email back in the summer of 2018 and at the time he was just a small local

business making custom kitex holsters in his garage part time.

He had some questions for me about using holsters on our packs and we began a conversation

and ultimately ended up prototyping some holster designs built specifically for pack use

and then released those holsters. I should say Gabriel released those holsters at the end of

2018 and he's been selling them ever since. They are by far my favorite holster solution for

pack use. We don't have any affiliation with Gabriel, no commission, no business,

relationship at all other than Gabriel makes the best holster for our packs and he's a great

dude and we're happy to recommend him. All that said to say we catch up with Gabriel five years

later. We talk a little bit about the holsters up front but really I reached out to Gabriel to

hear about his elk hunt from this fall. Gabriel had a fun adventurous elk hunt. It was a tag

that he drew in his home state of Colorado for archery season and it's just a great story.

We again talk about holsters. We talk about the death hike. Gabriel has done one of the exodeath

hikes but he's also been one of the guys who's taken our advice and made his own death hike

in him and a group of friends have done that a couple of times now. So we talk about that experience.

We talk about his elk hunts, solo hunting and just went so many places in this conversation
