So staring at this painting every day, well, you can imagine the kinds of tricks my mind started playing on me. Or at least, that I thought it was playing on me. Subtle things at first. There was a garden along that path leading down, and beyond the property you could see a glimpse of the ocean, or the sea, or lake, or whatever body of water it might have been.
