Summary

Just one month ago the Seahawks were 6-3 and looking like a relative lock for the playoffs, and considering the Niners had also lost three games to that point it looked like the division title was also within range. One month later, the division title is out of reach, Seattle has a losing record and the playoffs are in question. A week ago, Pete was on the radio talking as if the playoffs were a certainty and this week he's blowing off questions about whether or not his message is getting through to players. What will it take for this team to take a turn?

How the Seahawks play against Philadelphia may well determine how the rest of the season plays out. Can they cut out the 'easy' mistakes from some of the previous weeks? The Eagles defensive line may be a formidable force, but a former Seahawks defensive coach is struggling with a similar problem that Coach Hurtt has been concerned with this year.

Let's say things work out over these next few weeks. Is there one thing to possibly look forward to that a playoff berth can provide? We believe there is. Part of the reason is because Kyle Shanahan needs to Do Better along with a Bay Area reporter who seemingly couldn't wait to pile on DK Metcalf rather than approach the end of the game with any kind of objectivity about the role of one Niners player at the end of the game. Better at life honors go out to a PNW company for bringing us into the future and to a Seahawks player who was honored for his work in the community.

Good buddy.

Man, it's tough to get on here and talk after a fourth consecutive loss,

0:25.3

something that we've never experienced since we started the pod, of course.

0:29.2

But with that said, I refuse to get down.

0:33.1

I'm upbeat because I think this is rock bottom for the season.

0:36.4

I think it gets better from here. So however you're feeling now, remember that when we get to the end of the season. Because I think you're going to feel differently by that point. That's my guess. It's a prediction based on nothing but my gut. So take it for whatever it's worth. If this is rock bottom, then yes, that would be the ideal place to have rock bottom, I suppose,

0:55.7

because I'd prefer to have it be this week than next week, because then maybe we're due for

1:01.5

more rock bottoms. But as it is, yes, a month of losing never feels good. And I just now realize

1:10.1

that because, like you said, it's something that we haven't had to experience.

1:14.5

Just a month ago, we were six and three and looking like an obvious playoff team.

1:20.1

And a month later, we're six and seven and a questionable playoff team.

1:25.4

Yeah, questionable.

1:26.6

And you look at the playoff picture.

1:29.4

There's just so much mediocrity in the NFC right now that you still have a legit shot to make the playoffs.

1:37.6

It may be even with just two wins.

1:40.8

There was Chris Brockman and Rich Eisen were talking about their overreaction pod

1:45.1

about the concept of two eight-win teams from the NFC getting into the playoffs.

1:50.6

It didn't feel that far-fetched.
