I'm pleased to welcome you to today's ADHD Expert's presentation titled The 2-E Playbook

for Nurturing Gifted Students with ADHD.

Twice exceptional or 2-E students are incredibly gifted but often struggle with one or more learning

disabilities or developmental challenges. The potential of 2-E students is often overshadowed

by the unique challenges they face. For example, teachers may believe a student is being lazy in one

subject because they excel in another or 2-E kids might use their strengths to mask their learning

or their special needs might overshadow their giftedness. For children to reach their academic

potential, it is vital that their learning disabilities be identified, addressed, and supported in

school. In today's webinar, we'll learn how parents and teachers can best support a 2-E student

both in and out of the classroom. We'll talk about identifying strengths and weaknesses

and advocating as a parent and as a 2-E student. You'll hear how to ensure future pathways

to college and careers and about a personal journey told by our expert speakers.

Leading today's presentation is Dr. Lisa Deeker and her 2-E son Josh Deeker. Dr. Lisa Deeker

is a Pegasus Professor and Lockheed Martin Eminence Scholar in the College of Community Innovation

and Education at the University of Central Florida. Her research focuses on harnessing the power

of teachers to work across disciplines in inclusive settings in teacher education,

special education, and simulation. She is working on creating artificial intelligence agents

to support students with disabilities. She holds 3 patents in simulation and education.

Josh Deeker is beginning a new position in a management role for Trek Bikes in Leesburg,

Virginia. He received a bachelor's degree in Recreation and Management from Springfield College
