Words soon reached King William's Court that harrowed remained free.

Even worse, the man tasked with capturing the wake, William DeWorene, had barely escaped

with his life.

So not only was harrowed alive, his legend was growing, and his rebel base on Ealy was

growing as well, as the English were hearing the stories and joining the cause.

So the King at this point must have been apoplectic.

I mean, this was not the plan.

When he paid the Danes off, that was supposed to be the end of it.

The local nobility were supposed to abandon the rebels and flee north over the sea or

wherever, and thus leave William free to finish off what was left of the English rebellion

probably with yet another extermination.
