Summary

I’m so excited to reuniting with Kelly Brogan for this episode that dives into her latest book, The Reclaimed Woman, and the journey of female reclamation in today’s world. Kelly guides us through a thought-provoking examination of how societal narratives shape, and often confine, the feminine experience, revealing how real empowerment lies in rediscovering our true essence beyond societal achievements. She challenges conventional beliefs about fulfillment, exposing the myths sold to women around success and freedom, and instead points to a journey rooted in personal alignment and deep internal awareness. We explore how reclaiming femininity nurtures an environment where both men and women can thrive, discussing the profound effects of owning one’s choices, fostering safety, and embracing one’s role as a nurturer. Kelly leaves us with practical steps to start this powerful reclamation journey, illuminating the path toward a fulfilled and purpose-driven life. Kelly Brogan, M.D. is a holistic psychiatrist, author of the NY Times Bestselling book, A Mind of Your Own, Own Your Self, the children’s book, A Time For Rain, and co-editor of the landmark textbook, Integrative Therapies for Depression. She is the founder of the online healing program Vital Mind Reset, and the membership community, Vital Life Project. She completed her psychiatric training and fellowship at NYU Medical Center after graduating from Cornell University Medical College, and has a B.S. from M.I.T. in Systems Neuroscience. She is specialized in a root-cause resolution approach to psychiatric syndromes and symptoms. —Kelly’s Book: The Reclaimed Woman: https://www.kellybroganmd.com/the-reclaimed-woman-book  —Kelly’s Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/kellybroganmd/  —Kelly’s Website: https://www.kellybroganmd.com/  —Kelly’s Podcast: https://www.kellybroganmd.com/podcast  —Kelly’s Masterclass: Awakened Activism: https://kbmd.kellybroganmd.com/awakened-activism  Resources: —Kelly’s Fist Podcast Episode: End The War Against Yourself: https://markgroves.com/episode/dr-kelly-brogan-end-the-war-against-yourself/  —Ready to transform your relationships? Hello and welcome to another episode of the Mark Groves podcast.

You know one of those books that smashes you in the soul dangles, the soul face, whatever you want to call it?

0:12.0

One where the words resonate on such a deep level that a part of you is maybe that you've been trying to make sense of is revealed.

0:21.8

You know when you read a quote and you're like, oh man, that makes it all makes sense.

0:27.7

This is why writing things that are coming through you is so important because the words arranged

0:33.8

and the way they are through the energy that you're writing them might actually just

0:38.5

unlock something for someone else. And I'm not saying that because I'm shaming you into pursuing

0:46.5

your passion for writing or speaking or whatever it is. But I am saying that even just getting

0:52.9

your thoughts out on paper or on a computer or whatever,

0:57.1

that actually can organize it for you. It can actually be the mechanism by which you actually

1:02.5

make things make sense. And then as you review them, you are a witness of your own wisdom,

1:07.9

which I think in a lot of ways pours into you. You know, you're like, oh damn, I didn't know I could say that.

1:14.6

Oh, damn, look at what I wrote.

1:16.6

That you become a witness of your own ability to alchemize pain and suffering into words.

1:26.6

And they don't have to make sense to other people. They don't have to

1:29.4

be profound to other people, because that's again that they're only profound if, they're only

1:35.3

profound when someone else affirms it. It is you who affirms it. That's why poems sometimes don't

1:42.7

make sense till they make sense, right? You hear

1:45.5

some sort of haiku and you're like, ah, that's a weird range of words. And then you're like, damn.

1:52.3

I say all this because recently, Kylie was sending me screencaps of a book she was reading,

The Reclaimed Woman by Kelly Brogan.
