Let's talk about Jared Goff.

I've had harsh criticism of Goff, especially since the Sammy Walkins trade went down a couple

weeks ago.

And I don't think it's unfair to say that Goff was really atrocious last year.

According to NumberFire's expected points model, it was the eighth worst quarterback

season since the turn of the century, and that's not even adjusting for the fact that

passing is easier and more efficient in today's NFL.

And when you look at adjusted net yards per attempt in recent history, only Andrew Walter

had a worse rookie season within the statistic compared to Goff.

The players just ahead of Goff and adjusted net yards per attempt include Jimmy Klassen,

Kyle Orton, David Carr, and Ken Dorsey.

Grats.

Generally speaking, guys, quarterback careers are sort of like relationships.

If it gets off to a rocky start, chances are it's not going to work out.

I recognize the things that were going against Goff last year, though.

Some dude with a mustache was his head coach.

He only had one good receiver in Kenny Britt.
