Hey everybody, we have an amazing one for once.

Actually, that's not true.

We've had some amazingly bad ones in the past.

And, you know, now that I think about it quite recently, actually.

But this one really great.

Representative Jamie Raskin joined me a few days ago, the third term Democrat from Maryland,

led the nine-member team of the House impeachment managers.

That, of course, is the second impeachment, the one after the January 6th insurrection. We spoke about

all that, and his very personal journey following the tragic death of his son, Tommy, a brilliant

kid, Harvard Law School graduate, took his life after a long struggle with depression, and that was just six days before

the storming of the Capitol.

And Jamie wrote an extraordinary memoir about this period from Tommy's death through the impeachment

trial.

It wrote during a lot of sleepless nights.

The book is Unthinkable, Trauma, Truth, and the Trials of Democracy.

And MSNBC is premiering the documentary about Jamie this Sunday, the day that this podcast actually drops.

We talk about the book and the doc, and then about the work of the House January 6th Select Committee,

of which Jamie is a member, and we talk about where that's going,

where it seems to be headed.

I'm going to go right to our conversation, which begins with a reference to our mutual

friend, Dar Williams, whom we both love as a friend and as an artist.
