0:26.4	So I want to begin by reading something that Jesus said, which seems like a really good
0:31.6	idea for a podcast called I Just Want to Talk About the Bible.
0:34.5	This is recorded in John 13, 34 through 35. And before I read the passage, this is the
0:40.7	night of the Passover meal. This is the night of the Last Supper. This is the night before his
0:45.9	crucifixion. This is when he washes the disciples' feet. And when he says, is he saying this to
0:50.2	the 11, because Judas has already left to go betray him and to sell him out. So John 1334 through 35,
0:56.6	Jesus says, A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you,
1:02.5	you also are to love one another. By this, all people will know that you are my disciples if you have
1:07.9	love for one another. And so what is Jesus saying is the defining mark of somebody
1:12.2	who follows him? What is the defining quality of someone who is his disciple? It's love. That's what he says
1:18.2	here. He says, a new commandment I give to you that you love one another just as I have loved you. You also are to love one another.
1:23.7	By this, all people will know that you are my disciples if you have love for one another.
1:27.7	He says, this love is going to be the way that you were identified as one of my disciples.
1:33.4	By this, all people will know you are my disciples, is what he said. And notice what quality of love.
1:38.8	Jesus said, just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. And so I really don't think
1:43.7	that we could overstate the importance of love in the life of a Jesus follower, in the life of a disciple.
1:49.2	I mean, if you think what's the most famous Bible verse in the entire Bible is going to be John 316,
1:53.2	and what does it say for God so loved the world that he gave his only son?
