Summary

Modern masculinity faces many challenges, from a lack of clear role models to societal expectations that oscillate between extremes. This episode dives deep into the complex journey of healing for men, exploring the importance of reclaiming balance between the archetypes of the lover and the warrior, and why society's vilification of masculinity through terms like "toxic masculinity" can often do more harm than good. I highlight the need for men to embrace their values, build healthy boundaries, and undergo transformative initiations to rediscover their purpose. This is not just about healing old wounds but about fostering emotional growth and integrity. It’s a call to men to step forward, embrace their pain as a catalyst for purpose, and take risks for deeper love, connection, and authentic change.  Resources: — Watch the previous episodes in this series: — Never Enough: Unpacking The Father Wound: https://markgroves.com/episode/never-enough-unpacking-the-father-wound/  — Am I Too Much? Hello and welcome to another episode of the Mark Groves podcast. I'm going to be walking you through the healing process specifically for men.

0:07.6

This is part of a bigger series that I did on the father wound as well as the mother wound, how that shows up in both men and women.

0:14.3

My wife, Kylie Macbeth, just released a video here that is on how women move through the healing and maturation process.

0:22.7

So I wanted to do one that's specific for men.

0:25.2

Now listen, let me qualify this,

0:27.4

that what I'm gonna walk you through,

0:29.7

even if you're not a dude,

0:31.0

you might be like, damn, that actually I got a ton from that.

0:34.8

Because the maturation process and the healing process is similar. Of course

0:39.1

it is. And so there might be some gems in here that you find really valuable. Before we jump

0:43.5

in, wherever you're listening to this podcast, hit the subscribe button so you do not miss any

0:48.5

episodes. And make sure you check out those episodes that I did that led up to this. Now, you

0:53.3

don't need to listen to those

0:54.4

to get what I'm about to say, but it might be helpful to give you more context. I think the first

1:00.7

qualifier I want to give, just for some compassion for the men out there, for myself, is that in a

1:06.7

lot of ways, culture has failed men. We don't often have integrated healthy masculine leaders

1:12.5

who have both this balance of direct, of leadership, of authority, but also compassion and

1:19.4

empathy. What we generally witness in the sort of celebratized, politicized world is these

1:25.7

versions of masculinity that are exploitive, are authoritarian, are also

1:32.7

two people-pleasy, too whiny, too much of like trying to please everybody and having no backbone.

1:39.6

I really look at men, the internal structure really simply breaking down to two archetypes,

1:45.9

the lover and the warrior.
