| 1:16.0 | But the more I was looking into the story, it made me question, and I was really wondering, how did kids learn to read before Dr. Seuss? |
| 1:26.0 | How do we learn to read at all? Because if you think about it, human beings were hardwired to speak. |
| 1:33.0 | We're not hardwired to read. Throughout the course of human history, the vast majority of people, I would say 99.5% of the human race. |
| 1:43.0 | Let's say you go all the way back to before civilization. |
| 1:47.0 | So you go back to whenever you want to date the modern human race arising. |
| 1:50.0 | So you're going back tens of thousands of years throughout human history. |
| 1:53.0 | If you go back and include all of those people, the vast majority of human beings who have ever lived did not know how to read. |
