Welcome to the happiness podcast. I'm Dr. Robert Puff. Do you ever wonder why people make

silly choices? And when I mean silly, I mean really silly. Right now here in the United States

we're really having a problem with drug overdose and the main drug that is

killing people is called fentanyl.

And it's all over the news,

so why would anyone in this day and age experiment with drugs,

particularly since it is so dangerous?

For some people, their lives are so dangerous.

For some people, their lives are so emotionally painful that they just want to feel good,

they want to reprieve from that pain, so they turn towards substances to feel better.

And sadly, they do work temporarily,

but in the long run they may kill them.

But for a lot of people, this is not the case.

For many, many people, particularly youth, it's out of boredom. They're just bored. They see people

around them experimenting with drugs and they want to try it. So they do. And sadly some of them die, some of them become addicts

and many of them have very challenging lives for the rest of their lives because of that addiction

that now they must struggle with.

And if that addict is lucky, they may have someone in their lives that offers them a drug treatment

program where they can go and work on their addiction and get over their physiological addiction to the drug that they're on.

And they work for a while.

And yet so many of them go back, it can be as high as 80 or 90 percent of people who go to drug rehab programs end up using again.
