I know we told you on the last episode of millennial we are going to bring you a story about relationships and identity

But instead we're going to take a slight churn. We want to share a podcast with you that still deals with relationships

Well a relationship, an identity, but in a different kind of way.

It's called not by accident.

It's a first-person documentary narrative told by Sophie Harper, who decides at the age of 37

to make a decision that will alter her life forever.

Sophie and I have gotten to know each other over Skype and email because we're going to be sharing

the stage with each other at a conference in Australia called Audio Craft.

Together we're going to be talking about what it's like to document our lives. I think the work that she's

doing is lovely and her podcast feels like a kindred spirit to millennial, which is

why I think you'll like it. This is the first episode.

On the 22nd of May in 2012, I woke up,

sleepily walked to the bathroom, peed on an ovulation test stick and was catapulted into

action when the results showed as positive. Today was the day. I started shaking and fumbled with the phone as I blurted out.

I need an appointment today. I'm ovulating. Right, what time can you be here? she said.

This is a story about how life happens and we can't always control the circumstances or events.

We just have to deal with what comes our way.

But now and then we can make a big choice and take action and set life on a new

course. We don't have to just accept things as they are.

We can make life more what we want it to be.

I checked the bus timetable, jumped in the shower and bolted for the bus.

Once I was on I had time to stop and think.
