Hello, welcome to another classic view from The Boundary, our series recallings of the

best guests who've been lucky enough to welcome to the TMS commentary box.

In 2018, during the test series between England and Pakistan, we invited a young man to

join us at Headingly, whose interview moved us all perhaps more than any other before

it all since.

Walid Khan introduced himself as a quick right arm bowler and aggressive left-handed

batsman who played at the forward drive cricket academy in Birmingham, nothing too unusual

there.

While four years before this interview, Walid aged just 12 at the time, was a student

at the Pasha Army School in Pakistan when he survived a terrorist attack that killed 135

of his school friends and 20 of his teachers.

Walid was shot eight times, six times in the face and head.

He was frequently left for dead but somehow survived.

Years of reconstructive surgery followed first in Pakistan and then in Birmingham in a story

that hauntingly echoed the experience of another of our view from the Boundary guests

that no balloriat Malala Yusuf say.

This is perhaps as extraordinary story we've covered on Tess Mat Special and it goes

without saying that this interview contains some very graphic descriptions of injury.
