Earl Ozil II of Bambera was a Northumbrian and he had earned his seat ruling over the

region north of the time in true Northumbrian fashion.

A blood feud and a coup followed by a little church roast and a post-party beheading.

Ozil was old school and actually his namesake, who was the first Earl Ozil had also seized

control of Bambera through, you guessed it, a coup against none other than Eric Bloodhacks.

Which I think we can all agree is really impressive and that means Ozil's are two for two

in killing dudes and taking their seats.

It also means that Earl Ozil II came from one hell of a family, obviously.

And if you dig around a little more in his family tree, you'll also find Utred the

bold in there.

This dynasty was so ferocious that one of King Canute's chief men, Seward, apparently

took one look at them and decided he'd better marry into them just to be safe.

In that marriage, produced a son who they named Walthioth, who just so happened to be the

guy who was so irritated by the loss at Hastings that he set the southern woods on fire just
