Right, this is a special edition of a Blooded Podcast. It's March the 16th, 2017, which means that

40 years ago today, one of the, probably one of the most important goals ever scored in

Avveield, certainly one of the most wildly celebrated goals was scored. The man who

scored it, it's that opposite of year in our favorite hostelry, Avona Pines, reminiscent on the night that David Faircluff,

scored the goal. It took Liverpool through to the European Cup semi-firing in 1977.

So just a bit of background if we're going to be politically incorrect for a moment and we're going back to 1977 so why not? If

Joey Jones was the man who ate the frog's legs, Davy Furk Clifers, a man who was strapped from under a very, very good St Etty N team.

With the goal at peace, probably one of the best teams after the European Cup, weren't they?

You know, they've been in the European Cup far a lot long previously.

They were a very good side. The year before they'd been in the European Cup fan a lot long previously they were a very

beside well the year before they'd been beaten in the final in a final which the

by all intents and purposes deserve to win by Munich so we you know everyone was aware I think of the quality of St Etienne.

Football wasn't as covered you know covered as well as as it is these days so we

didn't know that much about them but we've seen no snippets of the game

the games that got into the final I remember watching a little bit of the the Bayern Munich match

but yeah I mean football in those days it was covered differently

so we were all a bit of a secret to each other and I think deep down it's only on

probably reflection I think they actually underestimated us. I think they came into both

those games really, really cockily and thought that they would advance. There's absolutely no doubt about that, but we were really an emergent strength and

and clearly we did rock the boat.

Forty years ago, I mean that and over here I I just say before that it gets mentioned to you most days in your life.
