Well, it's great to be here and in the course of a few short minutes, we'll ask and quickly answer the question,

does ADHD exist in females because for a long time, the field didn't really think that was true, and it's

absolutely true.

We'll mention this thing called the gender paradox.

We'll talk about whether boys really have more ADHD than girls and if that changes

over time, we'll talk about some of the very serious clinical consequences of ADHD in girls as girls turn into teens and adults and

will mention very briefly this important concept of stigma and it might be particularly

important for girls and women with ADHD. We thought as a field for a long time two things.

ADHD occurs in boys and not in men, so it's a childhood male disorder. We know that ADHD is a pretty

equal opportunity condition across all socioeconomic strata, across both sexes,

and ADHD does not stop once you hit puberty
