Vedantana is overcoming ignorance about ourselves through knowledge about ourselves.

Atma gian, knowledge about the Atman, Atman means the self.

How does one come up, come to this knowledge about oneself?

The process is Shravana Manana Nidhyasana.

Shravana literally means hearing.

Hearing these truths, which means studying what we have been doing here.

Studying these truths again and again.

Manana, which means contemplating these truths, reasoning it out, asking questions and

finding the answers to those questions, finding clarity.

Then the third one is Nidhyasana. Is to stay with the clarity.

To understand what the teachings are, to get clarity about it.

There's a difference between understanding and clarity.

What's the difference?

I may now understand what the book is trying to say, but, let's put it this way,

instead of saying understand, I may now say I know

what the book is saying but I do not understand. I'm not very clear about it. I've got many

questions. Then you are in the second stage where you ask these questions and you reason

it out. After you have completed the second stage, you come to clarity.

One comes to clarity.

Not only do I know what the teachings are, but I understand it.
