| 0:00.0 | Let's work on three words that make up more than 8% of Spanish. |
| 0:07.0 | Join us on a rigorous step-by-step journey to fluency. I'm Timothy, and this is LearnCraft Spanish. |
| 0:17.0 | Today we're learning three super important words that are key to thinking in Spanish. |
| 0:23.1 | But what makes these particular words so important? |
| 0:27.2 | Remember that in episode two, I told you that there are 20 words that account for 30% of all words ever spoken in Spanish. |
| 0:36.5 | What do we mean by that? Well, some words are much more important |
| 0:40.6 | than others. For example, the word blue is used on average maybe once or twice a week by the average |
| 0:48.5 | person. Imagine that you're on that walking tour having that conversation with a new Spanish-speaking |
| 0:53.8 | friend. There's a small chance that you'd need the word for blue, but it's not the most |
| 0:59.4 | important contingency to plan for. However, the word ke, which we just learned yesterday, |
| 1:06.6 | is used dozens of times in every Spanish conversation. There's no way you could have that conversation without using and hearing the word |
| 1:15.2 | k'i in all kinds of different ways. |
| 1:18.8 | In fact, a statistical analysis of spoken Spanish based on subtitles concluded that the word |
| 1:24.8 | kee accounts for 3.29% of all words ever spoken. |
| 1:32.0 | In other words, ke occurs once out of every 31 words spoken in Spanish. |
| 1:38.3 | It's everywhere, but it's not alone. |
| 1:41.3 | Another word that comes really close statistically is the word |
| 1:45.0 | de, which roughly means of or from. This word also accounts for more than 3% of the Spanish language |
| 1:54.4 | all by itself. However, dee belongs to another part of speech that we haven't learned yet. |
| 2:02.3 | It's not a noun because it's not interchangeable with the word food, and it's not a verb. It's not interchangeable with |
| 2:07.6 | eat. And it's not a conjunction because you can't use it to join two sentences together. |
| 2:14.3 | Instead, de is a preposition. |
