When we are discerning God’s will in our lives, we often get overwhelmed by the anxiety of making the right choice and don’t permit ourselves to consider what we actually want. In this episode, Fr. Mike Schmitz encourages us to weigh all the choices that are open to us, good for us, wise, and desired by us. The last of the four is often overlooked, so Fr. Mike explains why it is just as important to pay attention to our heart’s desires as it is to consider the other three factors when we are discerning a decision.

0:11.0	So when it comes to making decisions, I think a lot of times we have a lot of anxiety.
0:15.3	Many people have a lot of anxiety when it comes to having to decide, especially the big
0:19.6	choices, the big decisions.
0:20.8	And so a lot of times what we end up doing is saying, well, just God, you tell me what
0:24.4	to do.
0:25.4	Now that's not a bad thing.
0:26.6	It's a really good thing because it's saying, actually, I want your will, God, more than
0:31.9	I want my God.
0:32.9	So you just, my will, God, so you just tell me what to do.
0:37.0	When it comes to where should I go to college?
0:38.8	When it comes to who should I marry or should I go to the seminary or the confedter, all
0:43.6	these kinds of things, God, you just tell me and I'll do it.
0:47.0	That's not a bad thing.
0:48.0	It's a really good thing to say what I want to do, God, is your will.
0:51.9	That's why we pray that I will be done.
0:53.8	It's kind of core to being a saint.
0:56.4	The saint is the person who says, God, I will be done.
0:59.5	And the one in hell is the one with whom God says, you're will be done.
