Summary

In this episode, we zoom way out and ask a simple but powerful question: what health behaviors actually make the biggest difference? We’re joined by Dr. Jonathan Bonnet, a lifestyle medicine physician and former personal trainer, to cut through the noise of biohacks, microplastics, and wellness overwhelm. Together, we talk about the “big levers” of health—movement, food, sleep, stress, connection—and how to prioritize change without trying to fix everything at once. Dr. Bonnet explains why your why matters more than perfection, how identity shapes long-term habits, and why radical consistency beats flashy New Year’s resolutions every time. If you’ve ever felt paralyzed by too much health advice, this episode will help you focus on the few things that are actually worth changing for.

Eddie, we talk about so many things on this podcast related to health. And when we first started

0:07.9

the podcast, I don't you remember this, but on the first season, we had like one episode that

0:12.5

was just all nutrition. And then one episode on exercise. And it made sense because there's

0:18.1

only 10 episodes in the entire season, right?

0:20.9

So it's like we had one episode for each of these massive health topics.

0:24.5

But now we've been doing the podcast.

0:25.9

This is year eight, believe it or not, I'm doing the podcast.

0:28.5

And so we've had so many episodes over 100.

0:31.1

We've gotten to niche down into all these really, really detailed topics like the microbiome or your environment or microplastics.

0:39.5

But today, I thought it would be really cool for us to take a step back and look at what are the health behaviors that

0:43.8

are going to make the biggest difference in our health. Because, you know, while the microbiome

0:47.9

matters, of course. Absolutely. Absolutely. There are things that I think we all kind of take for

0:53.4

granted because we hear them so often that maybe we ignore, even though they're the things that are going to make the biggest difference.

0:59.3

So I like the idea of sort of pulling the camera lens back a little bit and looking at the totality of all of the things that you could change.

1:07.2

We talk about what can you modify. There's a lot of stuff you just don't have too much.

1:12.6

Control over. Yeah. And like have grace because there are certain things in the environment that

1:17.7

all the air filters and all the water filters in the world are not going to cure. But there are a lot of

1:22.4

things that we really can modify. How do you move your feet? Exercise. What do you do with your fork? What are you going to

1:29.6

eat? What are you going to do with your fingers? Are you using them to smoke? Are you connected to

1:34.3

people? Are you managing your stress? Are you getting some sleep? Let's pull the lens back. Let's look

1:40.3

at the totality. And that's why we're proud to welcome Dr. Jonathan Bonnet on with us.

1:46.2

So on today's episode, what are the biggest behavior changes you can make that will actually
