Last week in episode 3 we started learning how to use the verb

Parallare, which means to speak.

Now this is one of the most important words you can learn, because you can use it to say lots of useful things like,

excuse me, do you speak English, or I speak a little Italian.

Today we'll be building on some of the things we learned last week, so if you haven't listened yet, go and do it now. We'll wait.

Yeah, right here. Yeah? You waiting? Don't move. Okay? Right. Great. So let's do a quick recap. Can you

remember how to say to speak? Parlare. And we know that parlare is part of a group of verbs that end in aere, that follow the same pattern.

So, to say who's doing the action, for example, I speak or you speak,

we first remove the a re part, and we're left with parl.

Then we add a new ending.

So, how do you say I speak? Parlo, with the O at the end.

And how do you say you speak?

Parli, with a y at the end. And how do you say he or she speaks?

Parla with a a at the end.

And that's the same for both males and females.

So we have he speaks is p'la and she speaks is also pala.

We also learned how to make negative sentences.
