Okay, so last time we continued our deep dive into the campaign to take Guadalcanal,

and we saw our first truly savage battle of the war, at least savage when it comes to ground forces. This week we continue

forward in the narrative, but I'm going to try and summarize a bit more of the story to try

and get us through this, or it'll be sometime around 2027 before we're out of this battle. So let's

do that now. Now as September rolled into October, several things were taking place, some of which I'll discuss in detail, but most of which I'm not going to.

Now the Americans and the Japanese were each gearing up to push the other out of or off of Guadalcanal.

And then in early October, you get the second battle of Savo Island, or sometimes it's referred to as the Battle of Cape

Esperance.
