I was saddened this week to learn about the passing of Dr. Eli Esty. A couple of colleagues emailed me and messaged me about it, and one of

them said, I thought you would want to know. And indeed I would. I, of course, think very highly of Professor Eli Esty. He was a faculty member

of the University of Washington. He was an expert in leukemia, and he has been a past guest

of plenary session. And later on in this podcast, I'm going to re-air the interview when he came

by to Portland, Oregon and chatted with me for about an hour or so.

Professor Asty was, he was a different kind of oncologist.

He was the guy who went to the microphone after the speaker and asked the tough questions.

And boy, did he ask tough questions.
