Summary

“Nothing is guaranteed. And because of that, it enabled me to be so present and so thankful and aware of how special the whole thing was.”

Welcome to Season 3 of the What's New With You series, where we catch up with past guests on the Ali on the Run Show. And we're kicking off this season with professional middle-distance runner Kate Grace! The last time Kate was on the show, in December 2017, she had just left her sponsor, Oiselle, to sign with Nike and join the Bowerman Track Club. Now, three and a half years later, Kate has left BTC and is now a member of Team Boss, training under coach Joe Bosshard. (And she's moving! Kate is in the process of relocating from Portland, OR, to Boulder, CO, to train full-time with the team.) On this episode, Kate talks about her decision to change teams, and talks about how training is different with Coach Joe. Plus, she recaps her races at this year's Olympic Track & Field Trials, where she hoped to make her second Olympic team in the 800m, but ultimately fell short of that goal. But Kate isn't sitting around sulking: She is, in her words, "living her best life" right now, and is fresh off a European revenge tour, where she raced four times (in four different countries) in 10 days, earning two wins and three personal bests in the process. (Her new 800m PR is 1:57.2, which she ran in Monaco.)

Welcome to the Alley on the Run Show. I'm your host Alley Feller and today we are kicking off

0:21.4

season three of the What's New With You series. What's new with you? This is where we catch up

0:28.1

with past guests on the show and hear about everything they've been up to since the last time

0:32.7

we talked. Basically it's just an excuse to bring back some of my favorites. Today's guest was

0:38.8

on the Alley on the Run Show all the way back in December 2017, the year the show launched.

0:45.2

When professional runner in 2016 Olympian Kate Grace joined the show for episode 53,

0:51.8

she had just left her sponsor, Wazel, to sign with Nike and join the Bowerman Track Club in

0:57.2

Portland, Oregon. Now, three and a half years later, we are hearing from Kate at another

1:03.0

really exciting time in her life and career. Because Kate left the Bowerman Track Club at the

1:08.2

beginning of this year and she now trains with team boss in Colorado. And I gotta say it seems

1:14.9

to be working for her. On this episode, Kate talks about how different it's been training with coach

Joe Bosshard and her new teammates, including Emma Coburn, IAE Shea Pratt Lear and Cory McGee.

1:25.5

Last month, like so many athletes we've been hearing from on the show lately, Kate competed at

1:31.0

the Olympic track and field trials, hoping to make another Olympic team in the 800 meters.

1:35.8

She made it through the prelims and the semi-finals, but she had a disappointing race in the finals

1:41.2

where she did not end up in the top three and did not get a spot on Team USA. But now it's the

1:48.3

summer of Kate Grace. It is the Kate Grace Revenge Tour. Just three days after that 800 meter final

1:55.5

at Haywardfield, Kate was competing again and again and again and again and each race went great.

2:04.1

Kate is fresh off racing, three eight hundredths and a mile, including two wins and three

2:09.1

personal bests in just ten days. She's competed in Norway, Sweden, Monaco and the UK and she's finally
