πŸ“œ TODAY'S SCRIPTURE: Romans 7:15-25

15 For I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate. 16 Now if I do what I do not want, I agree with the law, that it is good. 17 So now it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells within me. 18 For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh. For I have the desire to do what is right, but not the ability to carry it out.19 For I do not do the good I want, but the evil I do not want is what I keep on doing. 20 Now if I do what I do not want, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells within me.

21 So I find it to be a law that when I want to do right, evil lies close at hand. 22 For I delight in the law of God, in my inner being, 23 but I see in my members another law waging war against the law of my mind and making me captive to the law of sin that dwells in my members. 24 Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? 25 Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, I myself serve the law of God with my mind, but with my flesh I serve the law of sin.

And that really has to do with the topic that we're talking about today.

0:31.6

We've been in Romans chapter 7 kind of looking through the expose

0:36.3

that the apostle Paul brings to us to explain to us where our struggle with sin

0:41.2

comes from.

0:42.8

And he's made a very strong case for the fact

0:45.2

that it does not come from within our own souls.

0:49.0

It is not an outgrowth of our identity.

0:52.0

Our new identity is in Christ. And this struggle

0:55.4

against sin comes from this thing he calls the power of sin that is resident in

1:02.3

our mortal bodies.

1:04.0

And there's an identity shift there.

1:06.1

There's a way of looking at the struggle there

1:09.6

that is very helpful to me.

1:11.9

Because when I'm tempted to send now I'm able to look at it and

1:16.2

say to myself that is not me that is not the real me that's how I begin to fight the battle.

1:24.3

And that leads us into what Paul mentions about two laws being at work in us.
