Thanks for tuning into the podcast.

As y'all will recall, we used the last episode to finish talking about the first day at the

Battle of Chikamaga.

And we looked at some decisions that were made by several officers that set the stage

for the Titanic struggle that would take place between the two armies on the second and

third days of the battle.

As you guys will recall, near the end of the last show, we talked about how, the evening

of the 18th, Dan McCooks and John Mitchell Spragades of Granger's Reserve Corps arrived

near J. Smith and Reed Spridge.

After having been ordered down from Rossville, in response to one of Minty's calls for support

earlier in the day.

When Dan McCook arrived on the scene, everything was quiet and there was no sign of Minty's

federal cavalry.

But McCooksman did capture some rear element troops from a Confederate brigade.

And so Dan got the idea that only this one enemy brigade had made its way across Chikamaga

Creek.

Well, Colonel McCook was certain that if he could bag this lone rebel brigade, then such

a feat would surely be enough to get him his Brigadier General's stars.
