Before we get going, I'd like to address something.

Recently, I spoke of the ravaging of William's army extending as far as herifiture.

And I imagine that information had come from an account by Florence of Worcester.

And the quote I relied upon was a translation done by Thomas Forrester, who translated Florence's

Latin into English back in the 19th century.

And it reads, quote, meanwhile, Earl William was laying waste, Sussex, Kent, Hampshire,

Surrey, Middlesex, and Herodfurture.

And ceased not from burning vils and slaughtering the inhabitants.

But the bit about Herodfurt didn't sit well with me.

And I kept thinking about it.

And since I can't relate, I started looking for other translations, including translations

by the English Historical Society.

And I found that some other scholars had translated that passage as, quote, meanwhile,
