And now we don't mean the small, shiny computer that's in your pocket right now that you occasionally

use to make voice calls. But we're talking about the old-fashioned telephone with a headset and

the curly cable and the dial tone. Over the past year, the city of New York has been removing

almost all of the phone booths from the streets. Who doesn't have fond memories of using a New York

city pay phone with gum on the earpiece and extremely vulgar messages written on the box?
