Here's how you probably heard the story of the Battle of Hastings.

William the Conqueror boarded a ship, he won at the Battle of Hastings and he was crowned

King.

Kingdom Conqueror Conqueror.

It's a tidy story that wraps up after an exciting action scene.

But now you know that the first part of that story wasn't tidy at all.

We know that there were people politics, horse shit for days, shipwrecks, corpse magic,

mid-battle horse-jacking, sexual mutilation and some guy juggling a sword for some reason.

And by now you're also starting to get the hint that well that second part of the story

wasn't very tidy either.

For example, you know that the English managed to herd the French cavalry into a nightmare

of spiked booby traps.

And we also know about Earl Waltheoff throwing a Norman barbecue in the wheel.

Because the truth is that the Battle of Hastings wasn't the beginning nor was it the end.
