As great an icon as the Maple leaf which adorned his uniform,

he carried our nation from its darkest despair

to its brightest hope.

In recent years, we've seen the role of the superhero Naminish.

The Canadian Shield's triumphs are now relegated to the footnotes of our history books

and the shows of our comic book stores.

Thank you. With his recent death someone I was saying that the age of the Canadian superhero has finally come to a close,

and that we will never again see another hero of his stature.

However, there are others who believe that with time we will find another hero to fill his boots.
