One of the most missed opportunities for beginning gardeners is fully understanding the potential of

planting cool season crops twice, both in the spring and in the fall.

These are your mild weather loving plants like lettuce, greens, carrots, broccoli, cabbage, beets, kale, spinach,

and lots of others. But even though you can grow the same crops in the fall as you do in the

spring, or as you did or as you will in the spring, how you care for them will differ. Today we're going to talk about the

unique needs of growing cool season crops in the fall and how that differs from their spring

growth in the areas of heat, water, pest prevention, sunlight, and cold. At the end, I'm going to

wrap up with three action steps that you can take

to better set yourself up for a more successful and productive fall garden,

steps that are different from what you do in the spring. Step number two, I only learned recently,
