today I'm with Reed Dent to mull over the words of Psalm 32.

Let's actually start, we're going to start by talking about Psalm 51 a little bit.

We'll get to 32, I promise. We just talked about it last week.

We did, and I want to do a little bit of review because Psalm 51 is going to factor into our conversation on Psalm 32 because what I want to talk about is how I think these

Psalms are actually related maybe even closely, so we'll get to that.

But let's start with Psalm, so last week we talked about Psalm 139

and Psalm 51. And what we talked about was just noting the relationship of those

Psalms to one another and about how we can see David as kind of being at both ends of the spectrum of just

human experience through Psalms 139 and 51. For example in Psal one 39 you get him saying you knit me together in my mother's womb and then in

in Psalm 51 you get him saying surely I was sinful from birth in sin my mother conceived me and you

remember we talked about some of our there are some theologies about original

sin and stuff that people use this

Psalm 51 to as a as a foundation for but that doesn't really play when you think

about Psalm 139 as well and really it's just an expression of a personal experience, you know, just of being and then in the one hand you've got just immense guilt and regret and horror.

David experiencing that when he kind of realizes or sees fully

his own capacity just for wickedness. And then on the other hand in Psalm 139 you've got just

the sheer wonder and delight and I would even say gratitude just at being at recognizing I am a creature who is

lovingly handmade by God and that both of those things are going to be true in each person.

We all have those capacities, we all have moments I think where we realize acutely one of

those feelings or another.
