I'm your Rainier Gamesmaster, James DeMotto. And I probably don't have the patience to do that bit again.

Heroes, I am so excited about our show this week.

We've got a game that y'all have been requesting for me for a long time,

because we're about to play

Blades in the Dark.

For those that don't know, Blades in the Dark is kind of a

supernatural version of Piki Blinders or Gangs of New York.

The background is the Edwardian city of

Duskval, an isolated and permanently gray industrial hellscape full of

criminal gangs vying for control of the streets and doing their best to practice in private

out of the sight of fascist bluecoats. Characters take big risks and cutthroats in the name

of a little reputation and some coin.

But when I tried to print out the playbooks to take over to my session, for some reason all of the

normal ones were not present.

Playbooks like the cutter, the Slide, The Spider, did not print out and I just came away with a bunch of weird ones that I don't even know if they were in my standard book.

The game we ended up playing was a very strange version of

Blades in the Dark and it was oddly thematically appropriate for the holiday
