Today we are joined by Derek Freeland, author of Centering Jesus. He is the

discipleship pastor at Word of Life Church in St Joseph, Missouri where he lives with

his wife Jenny. Derek, welcome to the show. Oh, so glad to be with you guys.

Thanks for having me on.

And please add some color to my introduction.

Give some more details about your family, your hobbies,

your whatever you want to throw in there that would give people a picture of who you are.

Yeah, I've got two adult sons.

One, my oldest is married and they gave my wife and I, our first grandchild in August of

22 and so I've added grandpa. That was the first thing I did on my social media

profiles as soon as the kids made the announcement they were pregnant I had a

grandpa in there.

So Leo is my grandson and they live five minutes away from us and I love that little guy.

Raising kids is like 90% work 10% fun but the grandpa life is just that

inverted it's like 90% fun 10% work so loving that.

So I, this is going to be another one of these.

Like I met a whole slew of new friends at a writer's retreat this last year as I was working on my first book and just got to meet a whole bunch of people. We've met some of them on the

podcast already. We've got at least one more, probably others after that, but we got at least

one more scheduled that folks are going to meet, but I met all these new friends and one of them

was was Derek he was he was in the circle as we went around and did introductions and was
