The Bible Study Podcast, episode 383. Today, the Bible Study podcast continues the study of Psalms with Psalm 42.

0:11.6

Welcome to the Bible Study podcast. I'm your host, Chris Christensen. I may have made a few references to this

0:23.2

Psalm accidentally as I was doing the Psalm last week, Psalm 41, as we talked about a dry place.

0:28.6

As I talked about California coming out of a drought, well, hopefully coming out of a drought,

0:32.6

but being in a four-year drought, it reminded me of the dryness spiritually that we can go through, which is what

0:39.8

this particular psalm addresses. And this is not a psalm of David. This is apparently a masquel of

0:45.6

the sons of Korah, a fairly well-known psalm, and it starts like this. As a deer pants for

0:52.4

streams of water. So my soul pants for you, my God. My soul thirsts for you

1:41.3

a fictional book because it is C.S. Lewis trying to put himself in the mind of

1:47.6

some of the minions of the evil one, and it is an elder demon screw tape writing to a lower demon,

1:54.1

his nephew, Wormwood, and giving him instructions about how to corrupt a new believer.

1:59.9

And one of the things that he writes about is that

2:02.7

to try and make sure that he doesn't understand that our lives as humans, our lives as people,

2:10.6

go through cycles, that there are times that are high times and there are times that are lows.

2:16.3

And to make him think that when he goes through a time in his faith that is a dry time,

2:20.8

when he goes through a time that is not a mountain top experience,
