Summary

How do you share the gospel with someone who seems to have heard every argument and rejected every answer? What do you do when conversations with a skeptical friend, a deconstructed child, or even a hostile questioner seem to hit a brick wall?

In this episode, I sit down with apologist and pastor Jason Jimenez to explore how Christians can engage difficult conversations with wisdom, gentleness, and truth. Drawing from real-life experiences on college campuses, ministry events, and personal relationships, we discuss how to identify the deeper questions beneath people's objections and how to communicate in ways that foster understanding rather than defensiveness.

Topics include:

Reaching people who seem resistant to the gospel

Engaging skeptics with empathy and discernment

Practical insights for conversations with those on the autism spectrum

Navigating relationships with deconstructed family members

Understanding the difference between sheep and wolves

Responding to hostility without compromising truth

Why character matters as much as content in apologetics

Whether you're trying to reconnect with an estranged adult child, answer a skeptical friend, or simply become a more effective ambassador for Christ, this conversation offers biblical wisdom and practical encouragement for some of life's most challenging conversations.

Have you ever had a conversation with someone in your life who is skeptical or even hostile about what you believe, and you've tried everything to connect with them, answer them, engage with them, but nothing seems to get through.

0:21.7

How do you share the gospel with someone who seems to have heard it all and doesn't seem open

0:26.2

to any of it? What do you do if you have adult children who have cut you off and told you that

0:31.6

you are toxic and harmful because of your Christian faith? What about engaging a skeptical

0:36.7

person who happens to also be on the autism

0:39.3

spectrum? How can we be salt and light in a culture that seems so hostile to that light? Well,

0:45.5

we're going to cover all of these questions and more with my guest, Jason Jimenez, on this episode,

off your first order. All right, I want to tell you a bit about my guest for today and give you

1:05.7

the heart behind this episode. A few weeks ago, I, along with Anna Kitko and Frank Turrick, did an open mic event

1:13.7

on the college campus of the University of Tennessee. And this was kind of the first time I was

1:19.3

in a scenario like that where there was going to potentially be hostile people there. Frank

1:23.4

always has hostile people at his open mics. And so we had a man come to the mic who was a bit

1:29.0

hard to read. I could tell right off the bat that he was on the autism spectrum and then fairly

1:34.3

early on in the conversation he actually announced that he is on the spectrum and acknowledge that

1:39.2

there are certain ways he thinks that might be a bit different because of that. And so we were trying

1:43.9

to engage with his questions and he came across as maybe be a bit different because of that. And so we were trying to engage with his

1:44.8

questions. And he came across as maybe being a bit hostile, but I really sensed that he cared

1:50.7

about these questions. This wasn't just somebody trying to poke holes in what we were saying,

1:54.8

but it just seemed like it was difficult to get through to him. And so it got me thinking,

2:00.0

like, what do you do when you've tried everything?
