Blackbird surfboards, the Hawkeye Hybrid Twin. We did a deep dive into the design last week,

0:06.9

and we're actually going to be giving one away next week. Tim Crozier will custom shape it for

0:12.0

one of our lucky listeners. We will randomly select the name from our list of supporters on September

0:17.9

1st. You can get your name on that list if you set up monthly support

0:21.8

before September 1st. It's only five bucks a month and it takes less than a minute to do.

0:26.9

You can do it on surfsplendorpodcast.com. You probably won't notice that $5 missing,

0:32.6

but collectively it is significant for us. We divide that collection by the numbers of downloads and we distribute

0:38.3

it amongst those who work on our various shows. It pays for the website, the server space

0:43.9

required to hold all of these large media files. That's just a constant monthly expense. It pays for

0:49.4

production help and so on and so on. So thank you for your consideration. These surfboard giveaways are just a

0:56.0

way for us to kind of show our appreciation and to highlight surfboard shapers. So go listen to last

1:01.2

week's episode with Tim Crozier to hear more about the Hawkeye Twin and surf splendorpodcast.com

1:07.4

is where you can enter to win it. Thank you. And now a word from Bob Hurley.

1:22.9

And so my friend Chuck Schmidt and I came up with the idea of international pro designs. And it was this scripty stuff on the rail, kind of like the Channel Islands logo. We pretty much copied that font. But we both got the font out of a book. No one invented

1:45.0

it that we knew. So one day I was driving to shape boards up at Wave Tools in Costa Mesa

1:50.0

and make some Hurley surfboards and I was behind this truck and I saw this PIL sticker,

1:55.0

Johnny Rotten and Public Image Limited and I thought P PIL, what does that mean?

2:01.6

And I said to myself, oh, if that said international pro-designs, that would be such a cool logo.

2:06.6

I like the black and white nature of it.

2:08.6

And yeah, so we adopted that as a stamp to put on surfboards.

2:13.6

The stamp was like sort of, there's a logo called United Labradoratories.
